Help Safiya Afford Essential Health Insurance

It is not easy for me to start this page and reach out for help to the community and will appreciate any generosity you can offer. I have been living on my own in the US with no family and have been supporting my education and medical care independently. You can read below to learn more about me and my situation.

My name is Safiya and I am an international student from Tunisia studying in the US at Interfaith Seminaries. I have received a full scholarship and housing to study at Union Theological Seminary to receive an MA in Religion with a concentration in Social Ethics. I am supposed to start in the fall and thought that everything was running smoothly for the beginning of the program, but as an F1 visa student, I was just informed by the school office that I cannot receive health insurance through a state plan but am required as an international student to pay out-of-pocket for two years of student health care through the Columbia University health insurance. The cost each year for the health insurance plan is a little over $6,000, making that about $12,000 for two full years of coverage.
