My name is Nihit Saxena and Sage Phoenix is my housemate of last 4 years.

On September 9, 2023 she was found extremely injured and dehydrated in Las Vegas, (the circumstances of which are not yet completely clear to us), and admitted to University Medical Center, Trauma Center.

She had received multiple injuries including
  • Assault
  • Liver laceration, grade II, without open wound into cavity
  • Fracture of lumbar spine (CMS/HCC)
  • Fracture of thoracic spine (CMS/HCC)
  • Right rib fracture
  • Closed fracture of right distal radius
  • Scapho-lunate disassociation
  • Closed fracture of left distal radius
  • Rhabdomyolysis
  • Closed fracture of sacrum, unspecified fracture morphology, initial encounter (CMS/HCC)
  • Dislocation of thoracic facet joint
  • Wrist fracture, bilateral, closed, initial encounter
  • Closed pelvic ring fracture (CMS/HCC)
  • Closed fracture of multiple pubic rami, right, initial encounter (CMS/HCC)

Over next few days at the UMC, she received multiple surgeries on her both hands, spine and pelvis. She had dislocated upper spine and and two fractures in her lower spine. In the spinal surgery, the doctors relocated the upper spine and added a plate and screws to the lower spine which will stay there. They also put plates in her wrist fractures. Overall, they are optimistic about her spinal and hand surgeries. The third surgery to her pelvic bone is the most complicated one since it is not a simple fracture, but we are hoping she will completely recover from that as well. So far she has had problems in controlling her bodily functions, but we hope over time she will get all the controls back.

Post surgery she has a long road to recovery. At this time she has been discharged from the hospital as her California insurance is not able to pay the hospital for post emergency procedures. She has to stay bedridden for most of the day and even simple moving around in the bed can be quite painful if she gets into a bad posture. She will have to be out of work for a good amount of time until her condition gets better, and will have multiple unexpected expenses. She needs constant support of caregivers throughout the day. She still needs to see the doctors that performed surgery on her at UMC for followups since they have the best knowledge about her condition and capability to provide any attention that is needed. At this time she does not have Nevada insurance which she is trying receive, so she has to pay for them out of pocket. She also needs visits from registered nurses which is out of pocket.

Last few weeks she has been able to sit and stand by her willpower, which was quite painful. Nowadays she has been able to walk around by using a walker.

So far Sage has been facing this trial by fire, literally coming back from the dead, like a phoenix, bravely showing us how to stay strong in the face of adversity.

The least we all can do is pray for her, hope for complete recovery, and support her fight back to normal.

All funds gathered will go directly to Sage (Lydia) to cover unexpected medical and cost of living expenses. She appreciates all help and support in any way you can give. Thank you so much for your love, prayers and well wishes!

Hey,
I'm Lydia Rose (Lydia Makraz), but many of you know me as Sage Phoenix, & I wanna start by saying Thank You.
Thank you for being here, for your love & for your support.
Three weeks back, I woke up on desert floor, laying on atop millions of small red rocks, being roasted in the Las Vegas sun with no real recollection of how I ended up there.
Its been a surreal and challenging journey to say the least.

So much pain,

(in my groin, it was unnatural and I wondered if I had been assaulted.
I kept asking for help unable to move really.
I lifted my tangled arm bent and swollen to the sky numerous times, crying out "Help! Help! Help! Help!!" though it hurt to do so, obviously.)

and there is a reason that everything happens.

Surprisingly,

(many would rather ignore me, than lend a hand, or even make a call.. I didn't have my phone.)

Long story short, I prayed that this could not be the end.
I wanted, more than anything, to be with my friends, and god sent angels to help.
After much ado, I was taken to the hospital, put on IV fluids, and my (shredded) broken body began to rehydrate.
I was told I was hit by a car, crossing the road.
I had hazy recollections but didn't know exactly what happened or if they were real or not.
So detectives have been searching and still unable to find out who hit me.
Which means I have no legal recourse, extensive medical bills and I need to be able to find an accessible place once I leave.
As many of you know I am not just Lydia Rose, I am also a painter, an artist known as Sage Phoenix.
My art is not just my passion, its my livelihood.

Unfortunately due to the extent of my injuries, I wont be able to work and support myself during this time of healing and recovery.
I am facing a long road ahead, and your support means everything to me.
So I am starting this GoFundMe campaign.
I will keep you updated on how I utilize breathing exercises to recover, and how I eat the right foods that help to build bone growth.

So I had 3 surgeries, my arms, and my pelvis, and my spine.
So I have got rods and screws, and some of them will come out, some of them will stay.

But I am just blessed to be alive, and I am blessed to be here with all of you and I look forward to being able to share my art again and come out into the world, and be part of it, and get to celebrate life with you because it is such an incredible gift.

So watch my journey, contribute if you can, and for those that contribute more I will have special art perks, that will help me to feel more involved.
I've been doing art with my left hand even this script I wrote, I wrote it with my left hand because its easier than using my right hand right now, even though I am technically right handed.
So I am learning to be ambidextrous and life is an interesting game that we play so lets give love and lets get it.
Thank you so much for being my friends and thanks for being here.
