Help Bring Roger Barnes to the U.S. for the DCA’s 70th Anniv

Dear Fellow Sailors,
I’m Mark Wisdom, North American Secretary for the Dinghy Cruising Association (DCA), a member-supported nonprofit celebrating 70 years of promoting sailing and cruising in small boats.
This June, to mark our anniversary, we’re thrilled to welcome our president, renowned author and sailing videographer Roger Barnes, to the United States for the first time! He will be visiting our members in the northeastern part of the U.S., and help organise a 2026 visit to our Pacific Northwest members and friends. Roger is a vocal advocate for the increasingly popular sail and oar movement in Europe and will share his expertise and passion for "Naviguer Autrement" during his visit, which includes:
Teaching a Class at the Wooden Boat School (Brooklin, Maine: July 6–12)
Speaking at the Wooden Boat Show (Mystic, Connecticut: June 27–29)
Sailing with North American DCA members and meeting fellow small-boat enthusiasts.
To make this visit possible, we’re raising funds to cover airfare and lodging, a DCA booth at the 2025 Wooden Boat Show, where Roger will sign copies of his book, "The Dinghy Cruising Companion" and talk small boat sailing and anything else that comes up with boat show visitors.
How You Can Help?
We need to secure round-trip airfare from France to Boston by March 15 and finalize lodging arrangements soon after. Contributions of any size will directly support this unique opportunity to connect North American sailors with Roger and celebrate the art of dinghy cruising.
Roger is excited to discover what makes small-boat sailing in North America special, and we can’t wait for you to meet him!

Thank you for supporting this milestone in the DCA’s history. Together, let’s make Roger’s visit unforgettable.
