Help Saint Bernard, Southern Leyte Philippines
Donation protected
December 16, 2021 a Category 5 Hurricane, a Super Typhoon which we call it, and the strongest this year hit the Central part of the Philippines where my hometown, Saint Bernard, in the Province of Southern Leyte is located. Saint Bernard is a coastal town and so the strong wind brought by the hurricane plus the storm surge greatly devastated and severely damaged 90% of the houses in the area, living thousands of families homeless. The aftermath of the hurricane is so severe that I can’t even find exact words to describe how bad the situation is right now.
Right now, there is no electrecity, telecommunications are down, people are begging for basic neccesities such as food, water, clothes and even sleeping matresses. It is reported that it will take at least 3 months to get everything restored. And it will take forever to rebuild everything from the trauma and the fear brought by the hurricane. As of this writing, help from national government has not come yet so people are struggling to find basic neccesities such as food, water and clothing.
I spent 25 years of my life in my hometown and never in my stay there have I ever experienced this kind of tragic event. It is very sad to see in the news people crying for help and all I can do is feel bad and be sad because what can I do? But I come to realize that this is not my first time creating a fund raising through this platform and I think of doing it again, as always not for myself but for the people I care about.
In this season of sharing and giving, I am humbly asking all your benevolent hearts for some help to the people in my hometown who are in desperate need of food, water and even clothes. Any generous amount will be greatly appreciated and will surely go to the people.
I will be in contact with the local government and the right people in our community to make sure that ALL the amount given will SURELY go to what it is intended for.
