Who are we?

Hello everyone,

I am Salma and this is my twin brother Ahmed. We are 13 years old. We both have high dreams and ambitions. I am skilful in Dabke, a traditional Palestinian dance. My brother Ahmed is a very talented soccer player. Ahmed is so skilful that at a very young age, he got a scholarship to attend Real Madrid Summer Camp in Jerusalem. It would be really sad for us to leave this world without being able to achieve what we aspire to achieve. A lot of young children like us are leaving as numbers while they all had a promised future. Many of these children are our friends and relatives.

Please help us find a safe haven alongside our two parents for us to build a bright future and life. We want to show the world what children like us are capable of. Please help us reach our dreams through a peaceful life before it’s too late.

Here are some parts of my journal that I wrote (I love to write) since the start on the ongoing attack:

I am personally so tired, I feel dead and I am suffocating. So all my dead friends are numbers now. We are not dying while being identified with our names. We are dying as numbers, as if this number is what identified us our whole life. I am honestly scared to die because if I die, my parents will not be able to recognise which number I am. Okay but why? Why? I have never thought that we would reach this point. Or I never even thought that I would reach a point where I think this way? We don’t have water to drink. We don't have fuel to turn the stove. We don’t have electricity to turn the light on. I am tired. All I want now is to leave this place. I love Gaza a lot. I love in an abnormal way. Really! But when I saw Gaza in this way, When i couldn’t identify which rubble was my house or anything in Gaza, I failed to continue loving it. May god outshine these monsters. I hope this nightmare ends.

We are really tired! Please god that's enough! The whole strip is disgusting and ugly. Everything is super expensive! How many more people have to get displaced, killed and lose everything! Everything became a wish for us. The simplest things became dreams. I dream of eating chocolate or any kind of chicken or meat! Despite all the conditions we lived in through our lifetime before this genocide started, we were still thankful and never asked for more.

We never asked for anything! Now all the people are starving! I miss my aunt, grandma, grandpa and uncle. I miss my friends. The friends I used to see every day and now know nothing about!

I really wish for a ceasefire to take place, to at least take a break from the sounds of the constant bombardments. I am just grieving over the the huge amount of things we lost throughout this genocide.
