Help Sam, Carter, & Their Housemates Rebuild After Devastating Fire

Hi, my name is Brendan, and I live in Kelowna, B.C. I’m reaching out on behalf of our neighbor and dear family friends, Sam and her 9-year-old son, Carter.

On Good Friday 2025, a devastating fire destroyed their home, turning their lives upside down in a matter of hours. Sam and Carter lost everything—clothes, shoes, furniture, and all their belongings. Heartbreakingly, Sam, a single mother, did not have insurance to help cover the loss.

We are incredibly grateful that all the people living in the house, including Sam, Carter, and the four other renters, were uninjured and are doing okay. While the loss is overwhelming, their safety is a blessing.

Sam was raised in Kelowna and has dedicated the past 13 years to working as a housekeeper at Kelowna General Hospital. She is well-loved in our community for her kindness and her hard work.

There were also four other renters living in the house, none of whom had renters insurance. Like Sam and Carter, they have lost everything and are now left to start over from scratch.

With your help, we hope to give Sam, Carter, and their housemates the foundation they need to rebuild their lives. Every donation will go directly towards essentials—shelter, clothing, shoes, furniture, and the basic things needed to help everyone get back on their feet and return to some sense of normalcy.
