Help Sam Rise After Devastation and Loss

This desperate financial assistance is being requested on behalf of my dear friend, Sam Saunders.

Sam, in Black Mountain, NC, has lost everything in 4 mudslides that slammed down the mountain taking everything he owned last Saturday, Sept 28th. Sam was buried in the wreckage for hours of what used to be his home before finally being rescued. A helicopter was able to eventually deliver him to Mission Hospital in Ashville, NC Saturday night.

Sam injuries include broken ribs, punctured both lungs, broken collarbone, broken shoulder, and broken back.

Many of you may be watching the news and hearing about or seeing some of the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene. But can you literally imagine personally being buried in a mud slide? Sam's home, all of his personal possessions, his shop tools, his livelihood - - gone!!!!

But God must have a wonderful purpose for him still. Because the grace of God surely had his hands all over this or Sam would not be here still.

Sam has always been a back to nature boy: hiking, fishing, mountain climbing, etc. He also loves dancing and music and the arts. He loves using his skills to help those in need with their homes even if they can’t pay for it. Sam loves his church; his friends; his cousins; his sister, Gay; his daughter, Emmaline; and son, Hatch!

I'm truly hoping the kindness and generosity of loved ones and strangers might please help here to contribute towards financial assistance to help Sam to start a new life after he gets out of the hospital (and then rehab). Clothing, food, furniture, personal items, and ultimately rebuilding a home in Black Mountain, NC. Haven’t even started to think about eventual medical bills. But being able to start living somewhere again is the first priority.

He won't be able to go back to his previous career (handyman & property management) because doctors have already confirmed his physical abilities will be significantly limited in the future. But he's alive! And he is eager and has a positive attitude about a new beginning and to seeing what God has planned for him now!!
