Assist the Parker Family Through this Unprecedented Time

My name is Samantha and I am a proud resident of Altadena. I am starting this fundraiser in the aftermath of the Eaton fires to help my family figure out next steps. I moved to Altadena 25 years ago to raise my son Kush because of the rich giving community, the strong sense of culture, the beautiful foothills filled with birdsong and the majestic fairytale hikes into Eaton Canyon. It has been wonderful, so much love. There are generations 3 deep in the homes of Altadena because of the love. I set my roots there to become one of those families. My whole street was destroyed by the Eaton FIre. We are in shock with so much destruction and loss.

Tuesday night the wind bombarded our home and blew out our windows. We evacuated under red skies and smoke thinking we would return in the morning to assess the damage. The next morning I received calls from neighbors checking on our safety and warning our neighborhood was on fire. Then I heard Rhythms of the Village and Oh Happy Day , the small business run by people who deeply care and nurture our community are gone. Our structure remains standing though damaged by wind and smoke. I am beginning to accept I will not be living in Altadena for a while but how will we make this happen and where will we go are the questions that I don't have answers for.

I have worked as an artist, holistic healer, and educator in Altadena, I've spent decades weaving myself into this community's fabric. to be a part of the progressive network of care. We've always looked out for each other -Today, our beloved community faces an unprecedented challenge. The recent fire has devastated my family leaving us indefinitely displaced and unsure of next steps. We live in the evacuation zone and are unsure of when we will be able to return and what will be salvagable.

We’re seeking support to allow us to address the many aspects of recovery through this crisis. These funds will assist with needs that might not be fully covered by other sources of aid. Every contribution, regardless of size, helps my family navigate this uncertain time.

I've witnessed incredible acts of kindness throughout our community. People have stepped forward to help their neighbors. This spirit of mutual support gives me hope for our recovery, even in these challenging times. We are all stronger when we can look out for each other.
