Help Sami Shaffer on her Road to a Life-Saving Transplant
Donation protected
Since November, Samantha Shaffer (Sami) has been treated at Fred Hutch for Adverse AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia). Unfortunately, there is no remission after three rounds of chemo/care.
She has qualified for a CAR-T Clinical Trial at Baylor/Houston Methodist Hospital in hopes of getting into remission and on to a life-saving transplant. Baylor in Houston has engineered her blood and approved the CAR-T infusion.
The one thing standing in her way is that they must charter a plane to get her there for a Monday, 4/29 appointment. As a treated Leukemia patient, she is neutropenic, which means she has no immune system and cannot travel commercially. She needs infusions about every three days, so they cannot drive. This clinical trial will hopefully save her life.
She is 38, has postponed her wedding to Mike, and has so much living still to do. Please give anything you can to help make the travel and associated costs of this potentially life-saving clinical trial, possible!
Thank you!!!
From Samantha and everyone who loves her!
