Help Sammy vet bill from Coyote Attack

Donation protected
Update: unfortunately we had to put Sammy down yesterday. He wasn’t able to regain his breathing even with full oxygen and he was wearing himself out. At least we all got to kiss him and love him and pet him and talk to him and be with him for his transition. We’re so very grateful for all your support and love and donations. It means the world that they’re are such good and kind people in the world. Keep your pets safe. Don’t take your eyes off them for a second! Our pup Bambi is missing him a lot too and is not used to being without him.

My old dog Sammy was grabbed off our porch at 10am yesterday morning! He's 14 but still has a lot of life in him! I "just happened" (code for God was with us) to look out my upstaris window to see how overcast it was and I looked and saw this coyote had Sammy in his mouth! I banged on the window and the coyote startled. I flew down the stairs (amazed that I didn't fall flat on my face!). and grabbed an empty milk jug that I put rocks in and shook it and yelled. The coyote had dragged Sammy across the patio and then dropped him and jumped over my 7 feet high fence!
I scooped Sammy up and brought him into the house. Not 5 minutes later, I see on my Ring camera that the coyote came back. If I hadn't opened the curtain when I did, he'd probably be dead.
Took him to the 24 hour Emergency Vet Hospital and they discovered he had 2 small puncture wounds on his neck! He hadn't had any blood at all. They did xrays and a complete blood work up. The xrays showed he has some bruising on his trachea and his lungs. They put him in an Oxygen crate and gave him some sedatives and pain meds and he settle down. When the vet called today, she said that he should stay another day or two. The bill has now climbed to $6000!! Of course, I want Sammy to live as long as he can without pain and they said he just needs to be healed a bit more before he can come home. I'm torn because I know he doesn't understand where we are or where he is. I went to visit him today and he seemed to perk up a little when he felt my hand on him and heard my voice. I know he doesn't understand why he isn't at home, with Bambi and his two mommies. If you can help defray these costs, it would be so great. We had a lot of "coyote" proofing in place already - flashing red eye lights on fences and gates - wolf pee spread around the yard, spikey things on the tops of fences, chairs, playpens and whatever else I could pile up near a jump in area to dissuade a coyote from jumping, even a motion activated sprinkler! Yet, this coyote jumped in, and grabbed Sammy right off our porch at 10am! I think the coyote had been stalking him from the front of the yard, which I saw on my Ring camera after the attack.
Now we can't let Bambi out in the yard without supervision and on a leash. I just hope and pray that Sammy can make it home to be with us soon. We miss his presence and I don't want him to be alone.
Bambi comforting Sammy after the attack. Bambi knows something happened! Sammy was in shock.
