Help Sanchez Elementary School's Young Readers

Hi! My name is Jessie Grant, and I am a literacy interventionist teacher at Alicia Sanchez Elementary School in Lafayette, CO. Our school is an amazing place to work and I love the students I serve. Our students come from all over the world, as well as from our own Lafayette, Colorado community. We are a Title One school, with 66% of our students receiving free or reduced lunch.
Many of our families don't have easy access to books. Yet, access to books encourages students to develop beginning literacy skills and as they progress to be readers, to read more! So this past summer, I built a beautiful Free Little Library, which I installed at our school at the beginning of the school year. I want to create an inviting place for students to enjoy the books they can now access through our Free Little Library, so I am fundraising for a bright, colorful, orange bench to be installed right next to our library. Then, as students wait for their parents to pick them up from school, they can grab a new book and sit down to read. In addition, passersby can feel welcome to our school to come and rest with a good book. This bench will create a sense of welcome and community and encourage students to read.
Please help me create this reality for my students.
