Help Sandy Donnelly kick Cancer’s ass!!

In April of  last year, our Mother told us that she had an abnormal pap smear and that she had to go in for further testing. The results of her scan came back and completely flipped our world upside down. She had cervical cancer and was going to be set up for a radical hysterectomy in May in hopes that they will remove it completely. We were so hopeful that this would be the only bump in her road to recovery, be we were sadly mistaken. Her post operative PT scan results came back with another blow. The cancer had made its way into a node. It was the most rare form of cervical cancer and also quickly spreading! After 3 rounds of chemo with radiation, my Mother was beat. She had lost so much weight that nothing in her closet will fit. She finally decided to try a different type of therapy suggested by her oncologist after she was registered as a Medicinal Marijuana Patient. This therapy is an all natural oil made from extracts of the marijuana plant and in the form of a concentrated oil that she takes every day 8-10 times per day under the tongue. She just wanted to feel normal again after a whole year of suffering from the ruthless side of the side effects from chemo and radiation. We were hopeful that this would help because of all of the literature we had read and friends of friends stories of success with this treatment. She was doing so well until about one week before Christmas. She had been feeling sick and in pain for a couple days. She said she felt like she was passing a kidney stone. (She’s had a couple before, so she’s familiar with these symptoms.) She rested a few days and then started experiencing symptoms of vertigo. I took her to the hospitalat UIC for blood work and they set up her CT scan. Her potassium levels were significantly low, telling us that it was possible she did pass a stone, but they decided to order the CT with no contrast this time because of other deficits on other bloodwork performed that day. We were all so hopeful that the cancer had let up finally and that it was just a kidney stone. But, Cancer decided to throw us yet ANOTHER blow! The cancer has spread to her kidney. It is causing blockage there so she will need to go in to have a stent placed to ensure the kidney continues to perform correctly and does not cause more issues. There is also a new nodule present on one of her loves of her lungs. 

My friends daughter was diagnosed with the same cancer around the same time my Mother did. I have watched her story unfold and her journey was very similar to my Mom’s. Consisting of a lot of heart ache, set backs and bad news. She finally decided to seek medical care just over the boarder of Mexico. This hospital is located in Tijuana and she will be set up to stay in a hotel just across the boarder in California while she gets her daily treatments of Vitamin C infusions in high dosages. This is the only place in the entire world that this treatment is legal to infuse patients. This treatment helps to oxidize blood cells and ultimately kills cancer cells! All of this will cost $30,000. This includes room and board for the duration of her stay and the daily treatments and strict diet she will be on during her stay. 

I would also like to request something to help our step Father, Sean Donnelly, to relieve him of working seven days a week and thinking of selling the house that we grew up in. I want him to not have to worry about bills just for the duration of my Mother’s treatments. He needs to be there with her during this difficult time! 

My mother has helped put together several fundraisers that has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to help her loved ones in times like this. Please, donate to help her reach this goal.
