Help Sandy Robinett Through Temporary Disability and Recover

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Michael Smith, and I am humbly seeking assistance for my dear friend Sandy Robinett. She is recovering from a recent spinal surgery and navigating temporary disability without short-term disability benefits. She has been enduring severe back pain for over six months, and after extensive attempts at treatment, surgery became her only option.

After months of debilitating pain and limited mobility, she was diagnosed with two herniated discs. Before surgery could be scheduled, Sandy had to go through a lengthy waiting period to see if her condition might improve on its own. Sandy also had to undergo two rounds of spinal injections, but unfortunately, these treatments offered no relief. Sandy's condition worsened to the point where even sitting still caused excruciating nerve pain. By the second month, the pain became so intense that Sandy had to rely on heavy pain medication just to function, and it was a struggle to maintain these prescriptions until surgery became an option.

When Sandy's medical team finally deemed surgery necessary, they determined that she would need both a laminectomy and discectomy to address the nerve compression and relieve the pain:

Laminectomy: This procedure removes part of the vertebral bone (the lamina) to relieve pressure on the spinal cord and nerves. Typically used to treat herniated discs and other degenerative conditions, this surgery is only considered when other treatments have failed.

Discectomy: This procedure removes the damaged or herniated portions of the spinal discs to relieve nerve pressure.

In Sandy's case, three vertebrae required laminectomy, and two herniated discs needed partial removal to reduce nerve compression. Due to the prolonged time her nerves were compressed, there was significant nerve damage.

Following surgery, Sandy required a two-week hospital stay, considerably longer than the standard 2-3 days for such procedures. Now, she is recovering at home with an anticipated 10-week recovery period.

One major challenge during this time has been the absence of short-term disability insurance. Sandy had applied for supplemental disability insurance through her employer, but due to her intense pain and the effects of heavy medication, she didn't realize the policy hadn't gone through. Without this coverage, Sandy has been without income during her recovery.

I am reaching out now to request assistance of $8,000 to help cover her bills and expenses while she focuses on healing and preparing to return to work. Any help, no matter the amount, would be greatly appreciated and would make a meaningful difference in getting through this difficult time. Thank you for your kindness and support.
