Help Saoirse move

Hi all, I'm Caren, and this is my second fundraiser for my dear friend, Saoirse. I’m doing this for her, because it’s not safe for her to be on the internet with her real name. Unfortunately the housing eventually offered was with a different program than the one signed up for, and wasn’t a good fit; and the housing itself would have replaced the current problems with new ones. The first GFM last January did not get Saoirse out of her current place, but did help her to survive, aiding in bridging the large gap between SSDI and the rising cost of living. We are happy to present receipts on request, for complete transparency!)

This time, she found, applied for, and was picked in the lottery for low income units in a brand new mixed income building. It’s in a city, with all the services she could not access in the tiny rural upstate NY town she has been in. Her current housing is in a pre-WWI neglected tenement building, with very steep and narrow stairs which kept her indoors and isolated. The new apartment will have reliable heat, the bedroom has a window, the electricity and plumbing aren’t 60 years old, and is accessible.

We are again asking for you to please consider donating to support this move. The funds will go towards packing materials, packers, movers, and clean-up of her current unit, as well as facilitating transportation to the new place.
