Help Sara and Craig Recover from Maui Fire
Donation protected
Hi, all! Hannah Rose here in New Mexico fundraising to help my dear friend Sara and her partner, Craig, recover from displacement, time missed from work, and losses they've sustained during this tragic time on the island of Maui, Hawai'i.
Fires broke out in the wee hours of Tuesday, quickly spread, and went on to completely destroy their entire town of Kula, as well as the town of Lahaina and other neighborhoods. We are not yet sure of the extent of damage to their home, but know that if it is still standing in a few days' time, it will still cost them even more time, energy, and money to get back to normal. Not only have they just paid rent and other bills at the beginning of the month, but lost money and time spent on projects that burned in the fires as well.
Sara and Craig are two of the most generous, hard-working, helpful and loving people I know, and it would truly be giving back to a couple that constantly does for, and gives to, others if you would donate to help them through this trying time. The construction and painting duo have no access to their home due to downed power lines, continued fires smoldering in the vicinity, and dangerous debris and ash all over the property. That means they do not have toiletries, clothing, their electronics, any items from their pantry, or tools for work, and that many of those items are sadly likely destroyed from the heat of the flames, smoke, and ash alone, despite the house still standing. The house will also need many repairs, which their landlords may help with only minimally.
I will keep the fundraiser posted and updated regarding the status of the house and Sara and Craig's next moves and ongoing needs. It is likely that a professional fire damage cleaning crew will need to be employed to properly and safely make the house habitable again, which could cost many thousands more dollars, and even more time.
Mahalo (thank you!) for your contribution.
Pray for Maui.
