Sara’s Service Dogs Shot Amid Heartbreaking Family Crisis
Donation protected
Hi everyone- ( update Sara’s dad has passed away 4/21)
I’m writing this with an unbearably heavy heart for my childhood best friend, Sara, and her husband Blake, who are enduring a tragedy no family should ever have to face.
For over a year, Sara has been the full-time caregiver for her mother, who suffers from advanced dementia. She’s been navigating the isolating, relentless demands of caregiving, while also preparing to say goodbye to her father, who is currently dying from cancer. If that weren’t enough, her husband Blake recently became a disabled veteran, leaving Sara to hold their world together in the face of unimaginable adversity.
And now…. in the middle of this storm… they’ve been struck by another devastating blow.
While staying at a hotel to visit her dying father in the hospital, both of their beloved dogs were shot.
Cora, Blake’s loyal service dog, was brutally gunned down. Busch, their emotional support and retired therapy dog — who once visited schools and nursing homes to comfort countless people was also shot and fled in fear. He’s still missing.
These dogs were more than pets. They were family. They were healers. They were Sara and Blake’s lifelines through years of hardship, trauma, and loss.
The weight on this family’s shoulders is unbearable. Between the crushing costs of medical care for her father, the relentless demands of caring for her mother, supporting a disabled veteran, emergency veterinary bills, and now the desperate search for Busch, Sara is drowning.
This is a family that has dedicated their lives to serving others — through military service, through caregiving, through therapy work with their animals. And now they need us.
I’m begging you, if you can give anything- even $5 — or simply share this story, it would mean the world. Let’s lift some of this weight from their shoulders and show them they’re not alone.
Let’s help bring Busch home. Let’s honor Cora’s memory. And let’s help this beautiful, selfless family find light in the darkness.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.https://www.newson6.com/story/6806bac0717c57c10fcb4921/service-dog-killed-after-shooting-at-osage-casino-hotel-another-dog-missing
