Help Sara evacuate her family to Egypt
Donation protected
Hi, I’m Sara Muhaisen, a 19 year old girl with a 7 other family members who were living in Northern Gaza, before the 7th of October.
In a blink of eye, our lives turned into hell, after we had to escape to the Southern Gaza under shelling, just searching for safety, leaving everything behind us, taking nothing but our lives, evacuating with no food or clothes.
Now, after our house has been destroyed, I and my younger siblings, of whom I am the eldest, live inside a tent made of thin nylon, which is not suitable even for animals. We face the cold and the war.
Two months before the war begins, I had finished high school with a score 95.6% in the scientific stream. I thought it would be a turning point in my life for the better. I enrolled in the university in the Faculty of Engineering with a passion that expanded the entire universe, but the war came, and the university was destroyed as well.
This war destroyed me and my siblings ambition and stole our right of education.
This war left me and my family homeless.
This war left my parents without work.
This war killed my dream of entering the college.
But there’s an end for each misery, and no end for hope.
The only way to escape is to leave via the Egyptian borders, but it costs $5,000 per person, and this is a huge amount that we cannot afford. I have thus set a goal of $32,500. Below is an itemized list of costs.
($5000 x 5) = $25,000 to register my parents myself, and my two high school aged siblings
($2500 x 3) = $7,500 to register my youngest siblings
$22,500 to cover resettlement in Egypt, college tuition costs, and living costs. My parents will need time to devise a sustainable means of sustenance in their new home and recuperate from the traumas they’ve suffered over 6 months of unrelenting horror.
I found this way, and I decided to try it, hopefully that it will help us to get our lives back again, and help me and my siblings to get out of Gaza to complete our educational journey in a safe place.
For Egyptian universities, registration must be done by expatriates, which costs more than $2,000, and this amount does not guarantee university fees. The human medicine fee per semester is $1,500 at Zagazig University but at Ain Shams University. Mansoura and Cairo are $1,800, and fees for all Egyptian universities specializing in human medicine may rise to $2,000 per semester. There are residency procedures for $50, and I need an apartment to live in, clothing, food, and expenses for at least 5 months because my family lost everything we owned. No, they cannot support me, as I am the eldest of my siblings. For these reasons, I have set a goal of $10,000. Below is my friend’s conditional acceptance letter from Zagazig University, which gives you a picture of the tuition costs Palestinian expatriate students must pay.
If you can help, even if it’s small it will make a big difference in our lives.
We appreciate your contribution and help forever.
