Helping Sarah through a Terrible Accident

Hi, my name is Maria Orta, and I am fundraising for my sister Sarah Bongard. As many of you know or are learning, Sarah was in a terrible car accident about a month ago and needs our help. On July 28th a typical, clear blue beautiful day, my sister was struck by a cement truck that was at least going 60 mph. With no warning and turning left into traffic, Sarah took the full force of the cement truck on the passenger side on 13th and Rawson and spun out on 13th, miraculously not hitting any other vehicles in her path. Fortunately, after going to the hospital and having several x-rays done, it was determined that she did not break any bones or have any life-threatening injuries besides bruises and whiplash. Such a blessing!

The accident stipulated that Sarah was working at the moment (as a medical courier). Because she did not have "business insurance," she had regular insurance through Progressive but refused to cover any part of the accident. This accident causes a significant shift in her life. Without a vehicle, she cannot work, perform daily errands, and take her two children (Jaxson and Nolan) to their doctor appointments.

The lack of mobility and paying for a car no longer exists caused a financial strain on the Bongard family. Sarah has been having difficulty recovering from the accident emotionally and fiscally. Other family members and I have been helping as much as possible but cannot help financially.

As all you kind and generous people, this is where we thank you for your help and support. Any contribution can help Sarah and her family get back to normal and put this horrific accident past them. It takes a caring and kind community to get people back on their feet and call on the village to help make their lives whole again.

The fundraising money will go to:

1. Paying off the old vehicle - just looking to end the debt of an object that no longer is of use and saying a complete goodbye to that traumatic moment

2. Helping catch up on lost income and past rent
