Help Sarah get PRK Eye Surgery
Donation protected
I'm a costume designer who is very nearsighted and has astigmatism. At my yearly eye doctor appointment, my doctor recommended I get PRK, a type of Lasik surgery that can fix my astigmatism and myopia. Even though my glasses turn blobs into defined objects for me and do what they can for my astigmatism, it's not enough. They say glasses can help with astigmatism, and they do help, but even with them, the way I see lights is very skewed from what normal eyes would see, especially at night. I want to be able to look at the theatre lights on stage and not see blurs that shoot out wacky lines of light that normal eyes can't see. I thought it was normal to see lights like that until I saw a meme going around a few years ago about how people with astigmatism see lights versus people without it. My normal is not normal and I want to fix that.
I want to see well and this is the best option for me recommended by my specialist, but this type or surgery is considered "elective" because being able to see well is not a necessity, but a quality of life thing? My insurance won't cover it, but my doctor said that now would be the best time for me to do it because my nerves are healthy, my risk factors are low, and the pay off would be high. My eye sight is only getting worse every year and my risk factors are low right now, so I want to take this chance while I can. If you would like to help me, I would really appreciate anything you are willing to give so that I can live well and see well.
My current glasses prescription is OD: Sphere -4.75, Cyl +1.25, Axis 155 and OS: Sphere -5.75, Cyl +1.75, Axis 165. My eyesight is very bad and if a surgery can help me, I want to do it. Will you help me?
