As many of you may have heard, there was a breaking news headline regarding a barricade situation on 7th street & Greenway Parkway this past Saturday involving an armed man that ended with a self inflicted fatal shot, and two dogs that were also shot to death.
What you may not know is this was a domestic violence case and the victim escaped and survived.
Her name is Sarah Jean.
You may not know that the abuser was her fiance.
This took place in her home, and the dogs that were murdered were hers (Bear & Jake).Sarah Jean had them before she got engaged and loved them dearly. As she ran for her life, he cold-heartedly took theirs. Not only did he shoot them, but one of them was in her bed which is now destroyed.
He fired seven shots at police, aiming towards where Sarah Jean was.
He drained the bank account, ensuring she would have no money to survive off of.
Her furniture and belongings in the home were destroyed, she had no access to any personal belongings such as underwear, clothes, shoes, etc.
Due to the violent nature of the incident, the apartment complex has severed the lease.
One would think that she would immediately be given resources, counselling, housing assistance, food, clothing, a place to shower and hygiene products by the first responders, but none of that happened.
Sarah Jean lost her fur babies, money, home, clothes and personal belongings. She lost everything and could use community support now more than ever.
She bares physical wounds that have yet to heal, and emotional wounds she will carry for a lifetime.
