Help Sarah Thurber

The purpose of this fundraiser is to raise money for Sarah Thurber to provide assistance with medical bills and recovery. This is written onbehalf of her by her partner.

This is the story of Sarah Lynne Thurber, a 36-year-old chef with a love for cats, an affinity for mechanics, and an appreciation for the natural beauty in the world. Sarah has always been the type of person who would give a stranger the shirt off of her back and stop the world to help an animal in need.

Ever since an incident involving a pistol and the actions of an inconsiderate person, Sarah has had an issue with her left ear. She has attempted to get it looked at over time, but she was repeatedly misdiagnosed with either swimmer's ear or a simple ear infection.

Unfortunately, it was not as straightforward as that. After a late-night trip to the ER and a consultation with an ENT, some light was finally shed.

Sarah has two tumors in her ear. One in the ear canal that has grown so large it has destroyed the ear canal. The other in the opening of the tube that runs from the ear to the brain stem.

Thankfully, these tumors were caught early enough that emergency surgery was deemed unnecessary, but there is still a long road ahead for Sarah. Blood work, biopsies, surgery, potential radiation.

Sarah has gone through so much in life and, continuously, has come out on top time and time again. Sometimes, the most unfortunate events happen to the greatest of people.

All funds raised will be used for medical bills and to assist with recovery. Our current goal, as of going live, is $20,000USD while we go through the processes of figuring out the best course of action. The ENT and the staff in his practice have been so helpful and kind, but they have also been honest about the costs of what's ahead. As more information is available to us, the goal may vary to reflect the new knowledge.

We have already started to receive medical bills, so help is welcome no matter the size of the donation. Whether you donate or not, please keep Sarah in your thoughts. She is a light in the world that isn't often seen and has touched the lives of so many.

As we learn more about Sarah's condition, we plan on sharing information and links to raise awareness and help others catch this before something happens, even if it helps just one person.
