Help Savannah Fight Breast Cancer
Donation protected
This is my good friend Savannah(also known as Kathy) whom I have known for over 20 years. She is a 51 year old single mom. Her son has chronic health issues (one of them being a condition in which his stomach is paralyzed and doesn’t digest food without the aid of a medication that he takes three times a day.) Savannah has never asked for help for her and her son and always made the best of their situation.
Now Savannah learned just weeks ago that she has a very rare and very aggressive type of breast cancer known as “Triple Negative Breast Cancer”. It is the most difficult breast cancer to treat as it does not respond to chemotherapy or most treatment options, but despite the challenges Savannah knows she is facing, she is determined she will fight to LIVE!
At the start of the Covid Pandemic, Savannah was laid off from her job of over 7 years and was told her job would be waiting for her to come back to when the company resumed business operations. The company then (recently) was sold and the new owners did not keep the original staff onboard. Savannah has done some freelance jobs since then that has kept the bills paid and food on the table for her and her son and now has received this breast cancer diagnosis. Her oncologist tells her that her chemo (with immunotherapy) treatment will be very aggressive and the next year is going to be a “rough road”.
Savannah will be undergoing her treatment starting next week. The chemotherapy will consist of several rounds over at least the next five months or possibly more and will significantly affect her ability to work and participate in daily activities. After undergoing chemotherapy, she will have surgery, most likely a double mastectomy.
Savannah’s car is 19 years old and in need of many repairs. A new front axle, new struts, new tires, the airbag system went out, and her air conditioning stopped working the very day she received her breast cancer diagnosis.
My goal to help Savannah (who from knowing her for over 20 years, is a proud independent woman who never asks for help) is to help her get a more reliable car, as she will need going forward for trips to treatment, surgery, regular visits to her oncologist…not to mention when school begins again in August to drive her son to school and to his many doctor appointments as well. Also I’m hoping funds raised can assist her with paying monthly household expenses.
Whatever amount, however small, you can donate to help Savannah and her son, is truly helpful and appreciated. If you are unable to donate, please share this fundraiser. Prayers and positive vibes are also welcome.
