My name is Charles Nunoo. My friend Frank Hodey and I are co-fundraising on behalf of Ms. Grace Conteh. A 6 yr old daughter of our friend Mr. William Conteh from Freetown.
AMAZING GRACE YANDI CONTEH was born blind in 2015 in Freetown, Sierra Leone. No hospital in Sierra Leone could help her situation at the time when she was just three months old. Her parents searched on the internet and found a hospital in India which was willing to see her and provide the medical treatment. They didn't have the money required at the time but were willing to take the venture believing God for the resources. They shared the need with friends and family through which donations were received and the first trip was made to India.
Grace is diagnosed with Anaridia on both eyes and after the first surgery in 2015, she began to see three days later on. She has been put on regular follow up for treatment in India since then till she is five years. The Lord through the prayers, contributions and support from people like you have made it possible throughout the years and her parents remain forever grateful.
However, Grace is 6 years old now and need to make her final medical trip to India in June 2021. This trip would have taken place in June last year but the covid 19 pandemic situation prevented it from happening. Her parents have consulted with the medical team in Aravind Eye Hospital in Thamildu State Mudaria city India and set out this new travel plans. This is why they're appealing for your help to make this final trip possible. Grace is such a brilliant child and inspirational, willing to work pass her medical condition.
The last medical evaluation and treatment in December 2019 reveal that 65% of her vision so far has been recovered. She can move and play around unaided. The challenge so far is to read and write which is why we have enrolled her in a special needs school here in Freetown. She's being taught brail and other skills that would enhance her intellectual development. Her parents believe in Grace and the potentials she has for her generation, so please let's stand with them and support this venture.
She is slated for her last medical visit in June 2021 to India and they need USD 6,000 to cover tickets, accommodation, medical Bill's and food etc. We are asking for your financial contributions to enable them complete her treatment and the surgery.
