Help Save Chevy: Our Hero Needs Us Now

I’m reaching out with a heavy heart about my beloved dog, Chevy. Chevy isn’t just my pet—he’s my hero. He saved my life in a moment I’ll never forget. Whether it was his quick thinking, loyalty, or incredible instincts, Chevy was there for me when I needed him the most.

Now, it’s my turn to save him. Chevy was diagnosed on January 15th of this year with Immune-Mediated Thrombocytopenia (ITP), a serious autoimmune condition that causes his immune system to destroy platelets. This means his blood can’t clot properly, and even a minor injury or internal bleeding can be deadly. Chevy suffered an intestinal bleed from his GI Tract. We were unable to receive care to fulfill his needs in Tallahassee, so I rushed him to the University of Florida Veterinary Care, where he is currently hospitalized in their ICU Department.

Treatment for ITP is intense and costly. It involves specialized medications, regular vet visits, diagnostic tests, and the emergency care he is receiving. The expenses are piling up faster than I can manage, and I’m reaching out to ask for your help to give Chevy the care he desperately needs.

Chevy is beginning to show improvement after receiving two bags of platelet concentrate through a nasal feeding tube and taking other corticosteroid medications. With continual care, the veterinary staff believes Chevy can continue to live a happy and healthy life.

Chevy is more than just a dog. He’s a lifeline, a companion, and the very definition of unconditional love. He deserves a chance to live a happy, healthy life, and I’m determined to fight for him as he has always fought for me. We love to say Chevy is a lover, not a fighter. He is a gentle giant, but we need him to be a fighter right now.
