Help save a family evacuate Gaza and rebuild their life

Imagine losing your wife and 4-year-old daughter. Imagine losing your home and becoming homeless. Imagine enduring 207 days of genocide.

This is the situation of my relative, Mohammad Matar, his remaining 6-year-old daughter, Noor, and mother, Alya. They lost their house in an “Israeli” airstrike on February 19th, 2024, and now live in a small apartment with 14 other individuals. Mohammed’s head was injured and his mother, Alya, has sustained third-degree burns and open wounds in her feet from the chemical blast. She also has severe nerve damage, which has resulted in her being bedridden. Due to ongoing strikes and the widespread devastation done to hospitals, even injured mothers like Alya are unable to receive sufficient medical care in Gaza. To make things worse, there is little food available and no clean water.

They are looking to evacuate Gaza and find safety in Egypt. However, crossing the border to Egypt is an expensive undertaking, with each individual paying a “coordination fee” to cross the border. This fee is typically $6000 per adult and $3000 per child. Any amount raised will go first towards ambulance fees (as Alya cannot move without one) then border crossing fees, visas, and passport fees. After this, money will be spent on medical fees.

Payment will only be made after being on the evacuation list and crossing the Palestinian side. Once in Cairo, they will be able to get the necessary medical care for his mother. Additional funds will be used to help the family cover living costs.
