Help with The Humble Family Home

THE ORIGINAL GOAL WAS MET, BUT MORE SUPPORT IS NEEDED –In less than a week family, friends and kind strangers from around the world came together to raise over $2800 to help the family. On September 1st, they will meet to close on their humble home in the town of Itagüí in Medellin, Antioquia Colombia. Geronimo, Julianna, Bibiana and their mother are forever grateful for the love and support. Their mother works very very hard just to put food on the table and pay the rent. She raises her two children in the home, free of the modern conveniences that we take for granted here in America. They don't complain. In fact they are very grateful. For this is normal every day life in Medellin and they are happy to have each other. The walls are bare. The floors are modest, but this home is full of love.
THE HOME. Recently the owner of the home passed and the surviving siblings wants to sell their share. Originally they were asking 10 million pesos, but Bibiana was able able to negotiate it down to 8 million pesos or about $2795 dollars for her mother. The kindness of a small group of people will soon allow them to own it. However, additional funds are needed to replace the rotted leaking roof. Your kindness will be put towards making the necessary renovations around the house to upgrade their humble standard of living.
WHY AM I HELPING? I have been blessed to travel to Medellin for the last 2.5 years. The city of eternal Spring is amazing! The people are amazing. The culture is amazing. They have great passion for the simplicity of life. During one of my trips I had the opportunity to visit an orphanage in barrio Boston with my friend Max. It was truly a life changing experience! Since that time, Max, friends and I have continued to network to make a difference in the children's lives. Last year, we were able to come together to help a young girl get surgery on her legs and feet to correct their position. Last November I visited Luz for the first time. Words cannot describe what it was like to see her walk for the first time! When I learned about this opportunity, I knew I had to help this family. Geronimo and Julianna are great kids. I can't imagine them pushed out into the streets. I've spent time with the family and getting to know them has been one of my life's greatest blessings.
WHAT WOULD IT MEAN FOR YOU TO HELP? Having spent time all over the city of Medellin, I have grown to know and love the people. Colombians are proud and very grateful for what little they have and value their close knit family the most. Here in America, we tend to get caught up in the fast life, lose gratitude for the little things and often complain about what we don't have when in fact we really have every thing. That said, any donation, no matter how big or small, would mean the world to me and every thing to the family. Thank you for your time and generosity. I love you all.
The family is very grateful of my intentions and motivated to help themselves. They recently cleared the front patio of the home to make room for motorcycle parking which is popular in a lot of local towns.
