Help Save a Kitten: Critical Hours Ahead
Donation protected
What started as a fun, snow-filled day turned quickly as I received a call that a kitten had been attacked by a dog. We don't know what prompted the incident to occur. We do know this is a stray kitten. We sprung into action and took on the treacherous roads to get to the little one. After getting eyes on the kitten, we immediately called our primary veterinarian and got him in. X-rays showed no obvious breaks, but it doesn't rule out possible fractures. His vitals were not perfect but not terrible. Dr. Pendley stated he has a 50/50 chance of survival. After discussing several options, we decided to give him a chance. Majority of damage is to the left side of his head. He has a puncture wound on his left side of the roof of his mouth. Small lacerations to the inside of the left eye but no damage to the eye itself. Our biggest worry is swelling of the brain. We agreed on a mannitol injection, which is done through IV. This will help keep swelling down for now. He also received a pain injection and two other prescriptions for infection and pain. This sweet boy is not out of the woods yet. The next 24 to 48 hours will be critical. If you would like to donate to him for his continued care, please do so and share. He is a fighter and proving it.
At this time, we have spent just over 500 for his care.
Thank you

UPDATE: He made it through first 24 hours since the incident occurred. This is extremely promising. His mouth is still sore and eating is difficult but he is accepting small amounts.
