Help Save ADA, Our Beloved Service Dog!

Meet ADA, our amazing Hearing Ear Service Dog. ADA is not just any dog; she is a trained and registered signal dog who helps my wife participate in activities she loves, like playing the augmented reality game Ingress and being a part of the Society for Creative Anachronism. But now, ADA needs our help.

ADA is suffering from a serious health crisis. She has regenerative anemia, hypothyroidism, and a bladder infection, and the cause is still unknown. Right now, she is in the ICU at MedVet, a top animal hospital, getting the best care possible. There is also concern over her kidney values, and the doctors are addressing that as well.

We first noticed something was wrong when ADA's paw started to bleed. At first, we thought she had stepped on something sharp, but when it didn't get better, we took her to the vet. Tests showed that ADA was anemic, with her blood levels dropping dangerously low. Our vet recommended we take her to a specialist in Columbus, OH, three hours away, and we went right away.

ADA has had two blood transfusions and a plasma transfusion to help with blood clotting. She has undergone many tests, including blood labs, ultrasounds, and scans, to find the cause of her illness. So far, there are no signs of internal bleeding or cancer, but her body is still destroying her red blood cells.

ADA is stable now, and the treatments have helped, but she needs more tests to find out what's wrong and how to fix it. We have already spent around $15,000 on her care and have nearly exhausted our savings. We don't want to make decisions about ADA's health based on money. We want her to have the best chance to recover and continue doing what she loves—being by Donna's side and helping her.
