Hello friends, family and community,
I am Dee Williams, owner of Elegant Impressions Bakery, a home based business located in Moreno Valley California. Since 2018 I have been helping my local clients celebrate life's occasions with beautiful and delicious desserts. In 2020 during the pandemic, I was laid off from my full time job as a driver for FedEx, and had to stay home with my two daughters while they attended online school. During this time my husband was still employed but was soon forced to quit due to a work injury that caused him to be permanently disabled.
This is when I decided to pursue my dream and bake full time. I was terrified, knowing that I didn't have guaranteed income like I had from working in the corporate sector for over 20 years. To my surprise, my once part time baking business flourished and was well received from my loyal customers to my new customers. Even during an unprecedented time in history, I was able to sustain taking care of my family, and providing a good service for local residents with cupcakes, macarons and dessert catering services.
Now my dream is slowly turning into a nightmare. 2023 has been the most difficult year for my business and my family. In the beginning of the year, my husband was diagnosed with a rare skin cancer which has taken a toll on both of us mentally and financially. With the economy shifting into inflation, high cost of ingredients, supplies, increase in rent, utilities, taxes, and transportation gas, my once profitable business is now on the verge of being shut down. Unfortunately inflation has been a huge impact and I can no longer maintain my business expenses to keep my home bakery running. I understand that mostly everyone is hurting financially right now, and desserts are not a high priority. My baking business is the only source of income that I have to take care of my family.
At the moment I am looking to raise money to keep my bakery business open and invest the funds to expand by turning part of my home into a full service store front. This way I can still serve my community with affordable baked goods and excellent customer service. I appreciate everyone who has helped me make it this far, without my customers, I would not have a business. To those who choose to donate, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart in keeping this dream going.
Cheers to you,
Dee Williams
