The enemy is at the doorstep. Our Ukrainian friends are fighting for their homeland and to stay alive in an unimaginable war from an evil dictator. I met Vladimir and Raisa Pavlenko family in May of 1992, just a couple of days after arriving in Kyiv, Ukraine. Aaron Love and I were missionary companions, and the Pavlenko family took us in and fed us, loved us and served us. Raisa quickly became my Ukrainian mama. She cleaned my shoes when we came to her house. She washed and ironed my shirts. Their son Vladik became a lifelong best buddy (Koresh in Russian).

Vladimir passed away a few years ago, and Raisa is now 76. Vladik married his sweetheart Tanya, and they have three children shown in the picture left to right Masha (20), Vladik, Andre (13), Tanya, Katya (22). Katya is living in SLC attending college. Vladik and Tanya made the difficult decision to stay in Kyiv with Raisa and help defend Ukraine while sending Masha and Andre to Poland and onto the USA as refugees. Our hearts are breaking for them watching their children leave and travel to the other side of the world, not knowing what will become of this war, when it will end and when they will see their children again.
We can't save all the Ukrainians from this unjust evil war, but we can save Masha and Andre Pavlenko. We are raising money to bring them to Utah and get them everything they need to carry on with their lives. We are going to enroll them in school and help them learn English. I know everyone has heard of the starfish story that saving a starfish on the beach won't make a difference considering all the starfish on the beach. Then one starfish is picked up and thrown back, and someone said that it made a difference to that one. Please help us raise these funds to save Masha and Andre and send Vladik and his family funds to support Ukraine's humanitarian efforts.
