Help Save Baby Dakota

Donation protected
Hi folks,

For those who know me personally you are aware of how much I have always loved animals. My dream from a young age was to always love and care for them and to pursue a career in the veterinary field. Almost 4 months ago now, I made the best decision of my life and brought home the most beautiful baby girl and named her Dakota. She is my first dog and has brought so much love and joy into my life I couldn’t imagine a day now without her by my side. Dakota hasn’t been in my life for too long as she's still only 5 months old, although, she’s already the best dog anyone could ever ask for. If anyone knows her, they know she’s full of energy, loves everyone and will most likely steal whatever food you’ve got in your hand.

Unfortunately, Dakota is rapidly losing mobility in her limbs. Her unknown condition began Saturday February 1st, she started to seem lethargic, sleepy and just overall unlike herself. The next morning, she seemed to be back to her normal spunky self, so I didn’t think much of it. As the evening progressed I noticed her limbs starting to drag and that’s when I knew something wasn’t right. When I brought her to my regular veterinary clinic I was redirected to a neurologist at the Emergency Veterinary Clinic  as whatever was going on seemed to be affecting her central nervous system, which is what I feared. After rushing her to the neurologist, he has recommended a CT Scan and MRI to further determine the causes of her condition.

So far, the vet bills have already reached $610.00 leaving us without confirmed reason as to what is happening to her. Process of elimination has narrowed the search down to a problem in her brain and neck. As the results of the basic blood and urine testing came back clean, the vets say the next steps to help save her are to proceed with MRI and CT scanning. The costs to complete these testings is an estimate of nearly $4,000.00 not including the money that would follow the testing should surgery need to take place.

Writing this has been difficult for me, felling so helpless, asking for such a large sum  makes this seem nearly impossible. This is never something I would have ever imagined I would have to do, but for her there is no length I would not go to. I unfortunately can’t afford the bills at this moment and am hoping by reaching out to my friends, family, pet parents, peers and anyone who could possibly help  in any way there is a chance that I can help save my dogs life. Words cannot begin to express how much this dog means to me, I would like to thank you for taking the time to read this and consider helping Dakota.

All funds will be going to her scans and further possible treatments if treatable as this is a trial and error process there's no exact estimate on how much everything's gonna cost. Any leftover funds will be donated to the OSPCA veterinary clinics/Toronto Humane Society.

I will be posting updates as her recovery progresses.

Dakota and I thank you.
