Hello, I am Saskia and I’m fundraising for my beloved, brave Bertie a 13 year old Bengal and tabby cross, who is extremely sick and needs urgent emergency vet care!
Where to start with his heartbreaking story… recently his owner fell sick with cancer and tragically passed away. When he went into hospital - Bertie and his sister cat Bella were left without food and water for 4 days.
Devastatingly, when Bertie was discovered- his sister had already passed as she was diabetic and had not had her medication. Bertie was found by her side, crying for help.
After losing his owner and his sister, Bertie had to cope with a home change. He was in foster for 2 weeks.
On 21st November, Bertie finally found his chance at his forever, loving new home. He was settling in wonderfully, munching and exploring his new surroundings. He also made many new friends in the flat!
Devastatingly, Bertie has in the past month become extremely sick. He has lost a worrying amount of weight, weighing just under 3kg, much lighter than recommended for his breed. Additionally, he has stopped eating for the past 4 days and been diagnosed with liver complications and dehydration. Yet, he is a fighter and still continues to jump up on the counter and explore! This brave, handsome boy deserves a chance to get his happy ever after- please help to get him back to health. He is severely dehydrated and will undergo fluid treatment tomorrow (8th January) costing around £600 for 1 day. He needs between 1-3 days of full days of fluids at the vets.He has already had to undergo two sets of bloods, ultrasound scan, antibiotic injections and he is also on multiple medications. A mass on his kidney has also been found that could require investigation.
We want to give this good natured boy every chance of a full recovery, but we can only do that with your help! ❤️Please donate what you can to help with his ongoing vet treatment.
( previous name- Nimrod- from past owner- kept on his vet records but we renamed him a Bertie for a fresh start after his trauma)
