Ram Ballav has touched many of our lives. He's been a cornerstone of the Boudha community for more than 15 years. Some of you may also know that Ram has realized a Nepali dream right in front our eyes: from profound disadvantage in childhood to business and property owner as an adult. I know he has inspired me on a personal level. Ram has shared his success with the people around him, and created a haven for expats and locals alike to share space and unwind among friends and neighbors.
Some of you might wonder why we are selling books and things now. It is not a moving sale. Well, not yet…
During the coronavirus pandemic, traffic at Ramsterdam, our beloved neighborhood cafe, was slow. In addition to normal running expenses, Ramsterdam also had the renovation costs associated with relocating. The combination of all these factors left Ram struggling to pay the rent.
Tourists and beloved old friends have begun to return, but winter is cold, long, lonely, and we are struggling once again to pay the rent and the bank loans. We are hoping to get through the next few months a bit easier with a little help from our friends. That is, until we all reunite to rock the house with many of you very soon.
So, let’s once again show our love for Ram and his dreamscape. i know many of us feel personally invested in keeping our favorite Boudha hangout afloat.
Ram has been so generous and helpful to all of us over the years. Now is our opportunity to show him our appreciation and support. Please share with friends near and far, even if you don’t have the means to donate yourself. Hope to see you all at Ramsterdam for many years to come!
