Charged Up Entertainment was established in 2002 by childhood friends in Richmond, Virginia seeking an alternative to the streets through the platforms of Hip Hop music, fashion, and art helping spark a wave of new energy in the community. A minority owned company, Charged Up has become a beacon of hope throughout the state of Virginia and beyond providing countless opportunities to Black & Brown youth. Over the years Charged Up Ent. has operated Charged Up recording studios, promoted monthly events helping launch the careers of numerous artist & producers, Charged Up Services HVAC & Appliance Repair and most recently celebrated the launch of the Charged Up Flagship Store in the Arts District of Richmond, Virginia.
A breath of fresh air, the Charged Up Flagship Store's innovative design utilizes a baseball inspired motif to serve as a community safe space and meeting place for the creative community of the Richmond, Virginia region. The permanent art installations in store help to tell the story of Chris Aguila one of Major League Baseball's first Filipino/Pacific Islander players and artist/producer Kleph Dollaz one of the first Virginians to be signed to a major label. Charged Up has opened their doors to numerous Small, Minority & Women owned businesses allowing pop up events at no charge to highlight other brands in the community.
Recently Charged Up has helped to grow the business of Tsunamizzi a Black 18 year old computer coding student who sells NFC technology bracelets and stickers as well as partnered with RVA NFTs & GSG two Black Owned NFT & digital art platforms in the area. Charged Up also gives back to the community by giving away free clothing, toiletries & non perishable food items daily at their shop and mobilizes the public by offering in store discounts to customers in exchange for their donations.
We have started this Go Fund Me to assist with legal fees and costs incurred due to court proceedings initiated by The Cleveland Guardians Baseball Company LLC. The United States Patent & Trademark office has approved our request to trademark our logo which has been in use since 2015. While waiting for approval mark to move forward but the Cleveland Guardians Baseball Club has filed an objection to the request.
Funds generated during this campaign will be used to retain legal counsel to help us move forward with our mission to protect the brand we have built over the years.
Currently our legal costs begin at $295 per hour and the litigation that we are facing could possibly extend for several years before a resolution is reached.
As a small minority owned business operating within the inner city of Richmond we believe with your support we can continue the good work we are doing while promoting positive values in our community.
