Claddagh stables is a horse riding facility located in Milton Ontario. We offer riding lessons to all ages and abilities, and camp programs for those aged 6-15. We have instructors trained in teaching children with special needs whether they be physical or emotional. Our horses and ponies are very highly trained with hundreds of hours of work put into them. A school barn needs a broad spectrum of horses in their barn. Some are the great combination of steady and calm for beginner riders, some are a reliable and athletic choice for riders who choose the competitive show path. Others have to be perfectly patient and smooth to carry riders with special needs.
This pandemic has caused a great deal of anxiety and stress in children and young teens. Interacting with our animals –including goats, sheep, and a mini donkey-provides great relief to these children. Time at the barn with the animals, staff, and other like minded people teaches them self-discipline, confidence, and valuable knowledge.
Claddagh stables is not a boarding facility, our focus is on lessons and camps. Our income is solely derived from offering these, and it normally covers all of the operational costs of the facility. Costs such as hay, feed, hydro, vet, farrier, water, and bedding. All of these bills are at their highest through the winter and early spring. With the COVID 19 lockdowns and restrictions we have had to cancel most of these programs and therefore lost most of our income.
We strive to keep all of our animals, and keep them in the best health possible. Every one of them is irreplaceable, and not just because of how much they mean to us. These horses take a very long time to train along with that they need to have a special temperament to be a lesson horse. We also need a wide variety of horses and ponies to match our wide variety of clients. Our animals are here to support our clients, and in turn we need your support to keep them here healthy and happy for when everyone can return.
