Please help save Eric's home from foreclosure
Hello! My name is Eric L. Watts and I am the founder and chairman of Treklanta, the Star Trek convention in Atlanta since 2011. It is a small event but one that is very much enjoyed by those who attend. Year after year, attendance has been just enough to allow the convention to pay most, but not all of its bills. Any expense that the convention has been unable to pay each year for the past decade has been paid by me out of my own pocket. I've continued to do this willingly and voluntarily because Treklanta really is a great little convention enjoyed by my fellow Star Trek fans and I have never lost faith that the convention will, eventually, grow to a size where it can and will thrive on its own. Unfortunately, we're not quite there yet, and the sacrifices I've made to keep the convention afloat have now put me in a bad situation, and I'm asking for your help.
The sacrifices I've made (some folks call them "poor decisions"... well, okay, because hindsight is 20/20) to keep the convention alive have put me in the extremely unfortunate position of being on the verge of losing my home due to foreclosure because I've missed several mortgage payments. We can criticize my past decisions and current situation later (although some already do); right now, I need to get my mortgage brought up to date so that I can move forward, get my life back in order and begin working on next year's Treklanta. The bottom line is that I need $6,000 to get fully caught up and I'm humbly asking for your compassion, charity and generosity to help me achieve that goal. If I lose my home, I will be unable to continue my work for fandom and, unfortunately, there will not be another Treklanta. Frankly, that would be a real shame. Anything you can contribute to the goal will be enormously appreciated. Thank you so much for your kindness and friendship, and if we can get this done soon, I hope to see you at next year's Treklanta!
