Help Save Eve’s Heart

Hafa Adai,

My name is Evelyna Salas Akima and I have a personal story to tell. I am 53 years old, with 8 kiddos and 4 grandchildren with 2 more on the way. I enjoyed an active and fulfilling life in the outdoors guiding tourists on a hike through the jungles or sightseeing throughout Guam.

In 2020, my life turned upside down. I suffered a double heart attack and spent 5 days in the intensive care unit and several more days in the telemetry ward.

A year later, I suffered 3 mild heart attacks which caused severe anxieties, resulting in 3 stents. Sadly, adding to the list of heart-related incidences are osteoporosis, Diabetic Type II, Neuropathy, and limited mobility.

I am currently being referred to Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Angeles for a possible bypass.

Although I have basic medical insurance, there are a lot of out-of-pocket expenses like copays, transportation, hotel accommodations, food, and God only knows other unexpected expenses.
