Help Save Hebron’s Last Full-Service Restaurant

What do churches, schools, and a restaurant all have in common? They are the lifeblood of any small community. Places where the town’s future is sustained. Where connection with friends and family over a cup of coffee or a meal serves more than the convenience of eating.

The Short Story…

We are Brick City Promoters, a small group with a common passion…to keep our small hometown from turning into a Main Street of vacant buildings…and we need your help saving our small town restaurant.

Our story begins in Hebron, North Dakota …

Hebron is your typical small-town USA located in North Dakota. A quiet, family friendly place rich with amenities, great location, and great people! The town is known as ‘The Brick City’ as a tribute to one of its main industries … the manufacturing of quality brick.

Three years ago, Hebron’s last full-service restaurant was put up for sale. Due to the condition of the current building and the investment that would be needed to make improvements, buyers were reluctant to step forward. Finally, the restaurant was about to be closed for good.

To avoid the ‘domino effect’ of losing this important business and gaining more vacant Main Street buildings, our small group formed a partnership to keep the restaurant open while at the same time, working to rescue and restore a building for the “new” Brick City Cafe to move into.

Our initial investment went towards purchasing the existing business and purchasing the historic Urban Mercantile Company building on Main Street. With the help of volunteers, interior demolition of the Mercantile building was completed. We have just finished replacing the old leaky roof, which was a huge undertaking. Next up is the installation of HVAC, plumbing and electrical … along with restaurant and kitchen equipment and furnishings.

While we are rich with donations of time and talent, we are poor in gifts of treasure. We need to raise $250,000 to be able to complete this project.
