Help save Historic Underground Railroad House
Tax deductible
Want to join me in making a difference? I'm raising money to benefit the Schoolcraft Historical Society, and it's preservation project for the Dr. Nathan Thomas Home which was a station on the Underground Railroad. This small home was built in 1835 and was a station that served over 1,000 fugitives from slavery during it's 20 years in operation.
In 1975, the Underground Railway house was purchased by the Schoolcraft Historical Society in Schoolcraft, MI and is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is now a museum which stands as a tribute to the courage of those who would not tolerate slavery and sought freedom at great risk, and to those who gave them aid in their flight.
The Underground Railway house is now in need of significant funding for major improvements such as roof repairs, new windows, foundation work, siding, etc. We hope to restore and preserve this house for future generations.
Please help us save this essential piece of American history and let us continue to have the privilege of providing a important educational experience to countless school children, families, and visitors.
Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me and the members of the Historical Society.
