Help Save Leo: Urgent Eye Surgery Needed

Saving Leo

Hello everyone, my name is Yolanda Lebron. I reside in Orlando, FL. I am best known as “the cat lady” in my small neighborhood.

One month ago, this beautiful boy made his way into our small and quaint neighborhood where an already established feral cat colony had been living for 5 years. He made his way to my house every morning and evening and captured my attention with his sweet and low meow and persistent personality as he drops to the ground and exposes his belly for a much-needed belly rub.

That was it for me! Sadly, this sweet little creature arrived injured, hungry, and thin.

I noticed his right eye was shut and yellow gunk was hanging from the eye. He also had a really bad cough and congestion. In spite of his physical condition, he remained cheerful and happy to find food, fresh water, and a pet carrier for shelter. Sadly, my financial situation does not allow for vet care, but my neighbor offered to pay for a consult at a vet, and so I trapped him in the carrier and off we went. After the exam, the vet shared her findings. Evidently, his cornea and iris separated, which explained the yellow gunk hanging from his eye. She started antibiotics immediately, and he desperately needs to have an enucleation (eye removal) surgery, or what is left in the eye socket. He will also need to be neutered. But our biggest concern is the removal of the eye. Please help “Save Leo!” That’s right, my daughter and I have named him “Leo!”
