Saving the lives of stray dogs in Macedonia~Sugar

We at Strays Without Borders wanted to ask for your help. We are only a small charity managed by a small number of volunteers and we are struggling to raise money to pay for kennelling, vets fees vaccinations etc for the dogs we rescue. Currently, we have over 60 dogs in kennels who all need to be cared for.

This photo shows Sugar who is still looking for her forever home. 

She and her sister Spice were rescued from a petrol station together with their mum. Spice has been adopted in the UK. Their mum gave birth to 4 pups, but 2 were apparently adopted by passerby’s. The employees kept them safe while they were little, but as soon as they started walking and moving around, they were at risk of being run over by cars. Their mum had already been hit by a car and the employees asked if we could take them to a safe place as they worried that the little ones might end up injured or dead. They were all moved to a private kennel and have been staying there since. Sugar is very friendly and enjoys being around people. She could be homed with dogs, children, and cats (with training).

Our dogs desperately need their forever homes but their upkeep needs to be paid for in the meantime. Some have been lucky enough to find homes quite quickly but some have been in the kennels for many months even years & it all costs huge a amount of money. Soon we will have to close our doors to new rescues as we simply cannot afford to fund any more dogs, but there are lots of animals that still need to be rescued.

Strays Without Borders is an animal rescue, founded by Snezana and Milka, based in Skopje, North Macedonia. With the help of a small team of UK volunteers, Strays Without Borders change desperate animals’ lives forever.

Our animals are mainly rescued from the Macedonian streets. They are found malnourished, covered in parasites, and possibly suffering from severe injuries.

Once rescued, the animals are nursed to health, funded only by donations, and kennelled in Skopje until forever or foster homes can be found for them in the UK.

We are a not-for-profit organisation. All the money donated to the rescue goes directly to helping care for current residents and helping them find their forever homes in the UK.​
