Help Save Lives in Lebanon
On Tuesday, August 4, 2020, Lebanon's capital city, Beirut, was largely destroyed by an explosion in the afternoon. People's homes, workplaces, cars, hospitals, and everything in sight, has been destroyed. Many injuries and casualties are suspected, but it is a developing situation. The whole city has lost power. People are still trying to get ahold of their loved ones.
Lebanon has had a history of war, economic strife due to inflation, lack of resources, and political unrest over recent years. The country has been negatively impacted to such a massive degree, and now the few remaining good things have been taken away.
The fact that this has happened in the midst of a pandemic creates even more difficulty for people who may need to isolate or get urgent medical care. Hospitals have been destroyed, as well as homes, which will force people to come together in groups, contributing to the spread.
The money that is raised will go to individuals and families who have lost their homes, jobs, money, access to medical care, and the little bit of "normalcy" that they were able to have before this. I am in contact with people who will be able to make sure the funds get to those who truly need them right now. None of the money will be going to large organizations, since we cannot guarantee that it will reach people who are truly in need when it comes to how the power structures in the country function.
I will post updates on who receives the funds and what they will be used for, so that you can see what a huge impact you are making. The economy is so bad in Lebanon right now that EVERY SINGLE DOLLAR COUNTS. Please donate, even if all you can do is one dollar. Share this with everyone you know, and we will be able to help.
Who am I and why am I doing this ?
My name is Sarah Hobaiter and I was born and raised in Lebanon. I am currently living in the U.S. When tragedy hit I felt moved to help in any way that I could because I was not able to be there personally. I partnered-with an amazing NGO " We Help Lebanon " , instagram : @wehelplebanon that I will be sending the funds to. They will be using the funds to help people that were hit by this tragedy. I will be personally receiving the funds into my bank account and then wiring them to the organization's bank account.
