Help Save Lives: Support Colorectal Care in Ghana
Donation protected
I am a colorectal surgeon dedicated to expanding access to colorectal care in Ghana. For too long, colorectal cancer (CRC) has been an invisible crisis—diagnosed too late, treated too little, and affecting younger people at alarming rates.
To address this urgent need, we established Ghana’s first colorectal surgery fellowship program to train highly skilled specialists.
This program is already making an impact:
- Our first Ghanaian-trained colorectal surgeon has graduated and is now practicing in the Ashanti Region, bringing specialized care to patients who previously had none.
- Two more colorectal surgery fellows are in the pipeline, ensuring a steady increase in expertise and access.
But one surgeon—or even three—is not enough! We need to train more healthcare providers, educate communities, and promote life-saving screening to stop the devastating trend of late-stage diagnoses.
The Problem: Late Diagnoses Are Costing Lives
In Ghana, most colorectal cancer cases are diagnosed at Stage 4, when treatment options are limited and survival rates are low.
- Many patients:
- Don’t recognize the early warning signs.
- Can’t afford or access screening.
- Are treated by general surgeons who lack colorectal-specific training.
Too many young people are being diagnosed with advanced colorectal cancer, a heartbreaking reality that we must change.
How You Can Make a Difference
Every donation, no matter the size, creates a ripple effect of change!
- $50 – Educates patients and families about the early warning signs of colorectal cancer.
- $100 – Provides essential training for general surgeons and nurses, ensuring better patient care.
- $500 – Expands screening efforts to detect cancer early and improve survival rates.
- $1,000+ – Supports critical training workshops to equip more specialists in the fight against colorectal cancer.
Your Support Can Save Lives
Imagine a future where colorectal cancer is caught early, treated effectively, and no longer a death sentence in Ghana.
Whatever you are able to give—whether it's a donation, or spreading awareness—you are helping build a future where more people survive colorectal cancer.
