Help Save Mama Mia: A Survivor's Fight

PLEASE Help Mama Mia Fight for Her Life!!

Mama Mia has faced more than her fair share of hardship over the past two years, and now she’s fighting for her life once again. She has been attacked by a coyote, mauled by loose dogs in our neighborhood, and just recently, attacked again by two loose dogs while we were on a leashed walk at a new park. This latest attack has left her in critical condition, and the doctors fear that if she pulls through, she may lose her back leg(s).

Mia is my first pit bull, and she is truly the sweetest, most gentle soul you could ever meet. She is the ultimate ambassador for the bully breed—kind, affectionate, and full of love. Mia’s story is one of survival against all odds. She was rescued from the euthanasia list by All Fur Animals Rescue (AFAR) after being found pregnant and abandoned at a kill shelter in the South. Sadly, Mia lost her entire litter while still in the shelter, and when I adopted her, she was grieving the loss of her pups. I’ll never forget how she took all her stuffed toys into her bed and treated them as if they were her babies. It broke my heart to witness the depth of her sadness.

Mia’s early life was cruel and filled with neglect, but I promised her when I brought her home that she would never suffer again. For the past six years, we’ve shared a beautiful life together. She’s grown older, her face now graying, but she’s always been my sweet, gentle companion—now, more than ever, she deserves a peaceful, happy life, far from the abuse she endured.

But now, after everything she’s been through, this tragedy strikes. I had just returned from a long trip, and it was her “birthday”—though she was a stray, so we don’t know her real birth date. I decided to celebrate her day with a "Mommy & Me” outing. We got pup cups, took a field trip, and enjoyed the sunshine. I thought a walk at a new park would be a nice way to end the day. But without warning, two loose dogs came charging at us and attacked her. It was a miracle that Good Samaritans rushed to help, but not before Mia was badly injured and I was bitten trying to protect her.

I have always made sure all my dogs have insurance, but despite that, Mia’s vet bills are mounting—thousands of dollars that I simply don’t have. The surgeon is hopeful, saying she’s fighting so hard and showing signs of life, but we still don’t know how long she will need to stay in the hospital or what her long-term recovery will look like.

The thought that I might not be able to give her the care she desperately needs is breaking my heart. I never imagined I would be in a position where I would have to ask for help, but I’m doing it now—because Mia deserves to be saved. She didn’t ask for any of this. She didn’t provoke it. She was simply enjoying a walk with her mom, and now she’s fighting for her life.

Please, I’m asking for your support in saving Mia. Any donation, big or small, will help cover the extensive medical bills she needs to survive this nightmare. She has so much life left to live, and with your help, I know we can give her the chance to recover and thrive.

Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support during this incredibly difficult time. It will be paid forward. Anything left over after paying Mia's bills when she is back to health will be donated to other pups in need.
