Help Save Mangia Mangia

Mangia Mangia opened in 1993 in Countryside, IL.  It is located at the corner of Joliet Rd. & Willow Springs Rd. in the Dominic's Plaza.  In 2000, Dominic's told all of its tenants that they are terminating all leases and tearing the building down to rebuild a new Dominic's Store. Connie the owner of Mangia Mangia scrambled to find their current location at 5555 S Brainard Ave she has been at this location since then.  Connie and her husband have worked in the restaurant business since we were teenagers and wanted to work for themselves instead of someone else. They worked so hard for many years to be able to open their own restaurant from the ground up.  Connie and her husband met at a restaurant when they were teenagers and ended up getting married.  They have two daughters and they both work for them.  Four years ago, Connie's husband was diagnosed with dementia and has been unable to work since then due to the progressive disease.  His inability to work has added even more stress on her since she has had to continue to perform her duties at the restaurant along with picking up many of his duties.  At the end of 2019, they started to see some positive growth in their business, then in March of this year they were shut down due to Covid-19.  As you are very familiar with, this has caused them tremendous financial stress.  Connie and her husband have sold their home and moved into their daughter and son-in-law's house to offset their personal finances so that they can keep the doors of Mangia Mangia open. Another shutdown would not only affect her, but her daughters and their families along with every single one of their employees.  She made the personal choice to do whatever it takes to keep their doors open for everyone involved in their restaurant.
