Help save Marley's leg

Donation protected
Well, I have never done a GO Fund Me and I honestly never ask for help unless I'm trying to help someone find a job, help someone in general, or even share someone else's GO Fund ME. I guess I'm always the GO TO, so today I am the one needing.

I have had several friends inbox me, call and text me telling me to do a GO FUND Me, so I finally broke down and the story starts here......

Back in 2018 the week before Christmas, our Georgia weather had been so yucky, constant rain and everything muddy. I had just gotten in from our grandsons 5th bday party and I felt sorry for our two dogs because I knew they were stir crazy, but i didn't want to get them muddy, so I took them to a building downtown with a parking deck. We had done this before and thought nothing about it. I thought "hey, they can still play, run off some energy and be clean lol" I stopped by the Cook Out and got something to eat and when we got to the parking deck, I sat on the back of my truck tailgate like always, shared my food with my girls (dogs). Afterwords I was playing with them and as I turned around to go the other direction, my dog Marley jumped the wall. It was all a blur and not even real at first, because I couldn't take it in, I was not seeing things right!?!? I looked over at my other dog and she was standing there alone and I ran to the wall, looked over and about 25 feet below was my dog Marley, crying, yelping, not able to get up! I panicked, called my husband and we had to rush her to our local emergency vet which was 30 minutes away. It was the longest 30 minutes of my life because we didn't know if she was bleeding internally or what! They kept her overnight and said they thought it was neurological because they couldn't see any broken bones, yet she couldn't stand up. They referred us to UT Veterinarian hospital in Knoxville. UT done all kinds of test on her and found out her front feet were basically broken, hyper extended at the leg. The way I see it was basically it would be like you landing on your arms and your wrist bending all the way back, detaching from your hand.

Marley ended up staying days at UT and undergoing around a $10,000 surgery, cast on both legs and medications. They had to put metal plates in both her feet/legs to hold them together, she had to have hyperbaric chamber treatments, wound vac treatments, some kind of laser treatments on the right leg and many medications for days to come. I would have to actually write them all down and the time because it got so confusing.  Afterwards, we would have to take her back once a week if not more often for cast changes etc. UT is around 2 hours away from where we live. Thank goodness our jobs and bosses were understanding and could work with us some. We both get off at 5:00 so as you know, those place are emergency hours after that WITH EMERGENCY FEES! Luckily that is where our jobs helped out the most by letting me leave early to get her up there before emergency hours hit. My husband is a Fireman so with his schedule we were able to tag team.
We honestly thought she would be good to go at least by March and here we are in the middle of May. Her left leg is better, but will never be the same, but the right leg isn't wanting to heal. They have always been worried about the right leg because it sustained the most damage. She ended up back in the hospital for about a week back last month around Easter, which was another big bill. We now know that she is going to have to have another surgery to take the plate out and will need to be fitted for a orthotic that she will have to wear the rest of her life. The plate developed infection around it and we are not sure if it's in the bone. The body is basically rejecting the plate. We are so scared that she may even end up losing her leg.

This might seem like "well why don't you just have the leg cut off verses all of that money spend again?"  that would be a nobrainer in most cases, but in our case she doesn't have three good legs, she only has two good back legs. She doesn't need to lose that leg because then all the weight and impact will be on that left leg that has already been plated from the accident.

I say all of that to say this, we are already around $15,000 and that isn't including, time from work, two hours travel/gas etc. weekly. Also not counting the other 3 local vets that she has been to regarding this same case.  We actually thought this was the end of our journey and Marley’s leg has took a turn for the worst!  Now were are looking at another possible $3000-$5000 surgery, not counting the back and forth with the constant orthodic adjusting, etc (SHOULD THEY BE ABLE TO SAVE THE LEG) and honestly our pockets are hurting. We do have pet insurance, thank God my husband had just took it out a few months prior because we are such and active family with our dogs. However, it does pay good on a lot, but not on checkups, medicines etc. and we are still left with a hefty bill. We are so blessed to have it though!

She goes this coming Monday 5/17/19 for further treatments at UT. I will update the post as I get more info.

If you can help us save Marley's leg, that would be great! Again, this is hard to ask and I know there are much worse things going on in the world, but we do thank you for helping and if you can't help financially, your prayers would be amazing also!

Thank you so much and please take a moment to look over pics I have posted of her journey so far!

Prayers and positive vibes!!!!!

Thank you so much
