This fundraiser is for my mother Michelle Skillman.
Since my Dad passed away in 2013, she has been plauged with poor health, but it has taken a sharp decline in the past couple years specifically.
She has been diagnosed with liver disease, and if that wasn't enough, she was just recently also diagnosed with cancer. She's pretty much spent more time in the hospital than out of it.
We all know covid has made things tough for everyone, but it has turned a bad situation for a normal person into just about the worst situation a person could be in for her. She can't see her family, she can't see her friends, and she is feeling very alone.
I cant say much about her living situation, but I can tell you its not a good place to be in. California is extremely expensive as we all know, and she doesn't even have the option to leave it, as she can't leave her team of doctors at Stanford medical center. The majority of these funds will likely go towards her getting to a more comfortable place to rest her head while she waits to be approved for a liver, as well as any other costs of bettering her health.
To be perfectly blunt, she is dying. She is trying to get a liver, but that takes time, and its very possible her time will run out if she isn't put into a better environment soon.
It is hard to ask for money, we've never been the kind to ask for anything, but I have decided it is the only option I have to help my Mom...
Shes gone through more than just about anyone could imagine. She lives in unimaginable pain every single day. Despite that fact she is remaining strong, because she wants to live. I have 2 young children, her grandkids, and all she wants in this world is a chance to be a grandmother.
My mom has done a wild amount of non profit charity work, she's gone out of her way time and time again to be a blessing to her community. If you know her personally, or have ever met her, there's a good chance she has cooked for you or given you a place to lay your head. She's never had anything but love in her heart for those she's had the pleasure of meeting, and im honestly not sure where she kept all that love.
Im just hoping that some of the people shes touched could find it in their hearts to give back in her most desperate time of need.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and for anything you can do to help.
