Help save my family and apartment
Donation protected
My name is Lisa Rodriguez and I am humbly starting this campaign because I am trying to save my rent stabilized apartment and my fathers well being.
The apartment has been occupied by my family for 40 years. I spend much of my youth there and my mother passed away in that apartment. I find myself in this situation because of a non-profit organization, Jewish Association Serving the Aging (JASA). They were appointed to my elderly father as a guardianship. They were responsible for looking over his finances, which would cover the rent. They did not do this and also they had sent him to ArchCare nursing home in Rhinebeck, NY, which is two and a half hours a way from his apartment on the Upper Eastside where I also reside. Now we are facing eviction and losing our apartment. I have been going through a fierce custody battle for the last 6 year going on 7. My children comes to visit as well we had all lived in this apartment. I will be in a shelter if I do not save this apartment. My father's care has been missed managed severally where he was transfer to a hospital in another state Connecticut Sharon Hospital where they adjusted his medicine told me he was healthy and was doing much better then he was at ArchCare. This has been a total nightmare. All I want is for my father to come home or at least close to his community and family grandchildren be safe and I can have a home health aid at home with me . Even though I was never on the lease I have tried to pay the rent for my father but I had a severe fall in the 2016 on their stairs.in 2017 I was extremely ill with kidney stone pyelonephritis and E. coli and in a custody battle. The guardianship took advantage of my illness and injury. They claimed that I am incapacitated and do not have the ability to take of him, which is not true.
I am humbly asking for donations to help keep this apartment and prevent not only eviction but keep my family together.
