Help save Myzel Chocolates
Donation protected
Myzel Chocolates is facing an enormous looming debt crisis due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Kamila Myzel has struggled to keep her business open during the pandemic. It is only since mid-September that people have begun to visit her neighborhood and Myzels again, but many of the office workers, tourists, and theatre-goers that used to populate Midtown Manhattan have not yet returned.
Kamila emigrated from Poland in 1981 - after receiving political asylum - and has been working in sweet shops ever since. In 1990 she discovered this tiny gem on West 55th Street, and with her mother by her side, they turned it into a precious store filled with heaps of chocolates and over 150 types of European licorice. Her scrumptious cookies and chocolate truffles are made on-site by Kamila using her grandmother’s original recipes.
Today, Kamila owes a tremendous amount in back rent and will be forced to walk away from the shop that she has devoted her life to– unless we can help her.
We are pleading with New Yorkers, and others, to consider donating to keep this beloved and one-of-a-kind shop from closing its doors.
And when near West 55th, please stop in for a smile and a chocolate from Kamila.
