Help save our dog Chips
Donation protected
It is with a heavy heart that I ask for help today.
If you haven’t met Chips, or seen him on our social media, he is our beautiful dog. Chips is a 2.5 year old Staffordshire Terrier Pit bull that we rescued while living in CA. He is the sweetest and most handsome boy ever. He is our best friend.
Chips is in a bad spot at the moment.
He has been suffering monthly and bi weekly from extreme seizures since we moved to Arizona 5 months ago.
We have been to our Veterinarian many times to have blood work done, and to adjust his medications. He is currently taking 15 pills a day to manage his brain activity.
3 nights ago he had his first cluster seizure, which is multiple seizures in a row. They were very violent. He didn’t come out of those seizures properly, and has been in a catatonic/dissociative state since. He also lost his sight(temporarily) and has not fully regained it. This has been a very traumatic situation for young Chips, as well as Jessica and I.
We brought him to the emergency pet hospital the next morning and checked him in for an overnight stay.
They were able to stabilize him and get the swelling down in his brain.
After a 2 day stay in the hospital he is now walking again, and slowly coming around, however, we now need to bring him to a neurologist for an MRI to find out exactly what is causing our beautiful puppy to go through all of this at such a young age.
This is an extremely expensive procedure, and is a length that I imagine most people won’t or can’t go to, due to the expenses.
The hospital visit and procedures he’s done up to this point, have cost us nearly $4,000, and his meds cost us $270 per month. It will be another $4,000 for his MRI and further treatment. This is the only way for us to find out the specifics of what’s going on with Chips, and to ensure that he’s not in pain.
I can see in my sweet boy’s eyes that he is not ready to go yet, and we are not ready to lose him. He means everything to us.
I will do anything I can to save his life and ensure that he has a long, happy future ahead of him.
It is so hard for me to write this. It is so hard to ask for help.. but I don’t have many options.
I am reaching out to my friends, family and the public for help on this one. We have set up a go fund me to help us with the expenses. If you are unable to help at all financially, which we fully understand, advice and well wishes are just as welcome.
I know that everyone has problems and financial precedents in this life and that it may seem absurd to ask for help with a pet. I understand that, and I would never ask if it wasn’t so outrageous and if I could handle it alone. But that simply isn’t the case.
We don’t expect to come close to this goal, however that is what the expenses are. If we happen to come to our goal, any cent we raise over our goal will be donated to a reputable animal charity.
Anything you are able to help us with, is beyond amazing and is so unbelievably appreciated.
Chips has had a gnarly life so far, and we can’t imagine not helping him have the best life possible from here-on-out.
Chips was raised into a pit bull fighting organization and given away because he wouldn’t fight. He was then taken by a homeless man, where he spent a year on the streets and living under a bridge with the homeless man that was physically abusing him to receive pain medication for himself. We know this because the rescue agency we got Chips from purchased him for $200 off of the homeless man after repeated attempts and witnessing what was happening. Now this. He is only 2.5 years old and needs a better future.
We are taking Chips in for his MRI on Monday morning.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this, and for your understanding.
Love,
Kyle, Jessica, and Chips
